Small Businesses are the foundation of our economy. Or are we?

When the federal government bailed out one of the largest insurers in the Unites States, they reasoned their failure would impact the economy significantly and those that were insured negatively. The amount of the bailout - Eighty Five Billion Dollars (85,000,000,000), a staggering amount provided to a mismanaged firm. Would the government rescue the small business owners that found themselves in difficult circumstances due to mismanagement and poor investments - hardly. It is time for the government to get off the backs of small business owners and out of their wallets. Promote commerce between and with small businesses - and join to form a common voice that expresses the interests and respects the efforts of small business owners.

Perhaps no better example of the excessive greed and mismanagement of large organizations can be found than in the recent meltdown on Wall Street. We see many large firms in need of government assistance in order to avoid collapse, and others being acquired at bargain prices by other large firms, increasing their size and influence. What about the investors that placed their hard earned income and trust into their management? Their loss is simply chalked up to the risks that the market presents, not to the mismanagement and greed that brought the firm to its demise. But what can be done? How can we, as small business owners and individuals, affect the influence these large firms have? What about the politicians that promise every election cycle to protect and promote small businesses and their efforts, yet in the end do very little? Or those that fail to understand small businesses and how they operate, and determine they make too much money and would like to increase their taxes? Is paying more tax truly a patriotic act, or just an act of the government to gain more control of wealth, so it can be redistributed or utilized to provide bailouts for large firms? What's the real answer to all of this? Small businesses have been providing goods and services, creating jobs, and are a source of strength in their communities. With their entrepenuership and hard work, they have been responsible for America becoming a true land of opportunity, and are a testament to the results of enginuity and determination. The time is now to join together and gain a significant voice that expresses the concerns and appreciates the efforts of small businesses. The SBA listing website is designed to promote commerce with and between small businesses, and to provide them with a strong voice in the business community and regarding governmental affairs.
